Central windscreen defrost vent Mk5 vs Mk6

Does anyone know if the central windscreen defrost vent that runs along the front of the dashboard is the same on the Mk5 and Mk6? I've got an idea to convert to the Mk6 sun sensor which is integrated into that vent and it would be very convenient if I didn't have to hack my Mk5 one up to make it work when I could just swap out the whole vent.
