Thanks
Thanks for your help!

Hi, see link for an idea on price. I've heard these mentioned before and seem to have a good reputation.

Sadly think mine will need doing at some point as i've experienced similar symptoms to you after a long journey. Good to know it might just be the mechatronic i suppose but still a fair old  chunk of cash. Dsg services on mine done late at 50k miles & 100k miles (now on 120k).

Thanks for that I'll check out their page, I've found some garages local to me that may be able to do the repair, gonna call them tomorrow to get a rough idea of the price, I know its gonna cost me a fair bit haha.

Bit annoyed that mine is failing tbh as the first dsg service was done at 40k then around 75k and got one done recently at 109k but I know it's a common issue. Hope u get urs sorted!

Cheers, let us know how you get on as i see you're in London so would be interesting to know what sort of prices you get quoted (I am in Kent so not far away).

DurinsBane117:
Just an update on the issue:

I took it to a gearbox specialist who diagnosed the issues and was quoted around £2k for the repairs.

This includes new clutch packs, clutch control solenoids, oil, filter, labour and adaption/road test.

GreigC:
Most garages will only do both mechatronics & clutch packs in fear they pick the wrong issue. (It covers there back) I can assure you the mechatronics is your issue. About £350 in parts by the time you factor in the 2 x solenoids, gaskets and DSG Oil & filter. But I understand your situation you can’t do it yourself. Just a lot to spend on 14+ year old car. (In my opinion)

Jons1001:
The link i posted above looks like they do the lot for £1900? Might be worth giving them a call to discuss. Have heard good things about them on the forum before.

Hi Greig,

Out of interest is this the correct part? (need two of these?)

Also where did you find out how to replace them? i think i have the same issue - Juddering at low speeds after a long drive, also some horrendous grinding noise. This only happened a few times though and i've had other long drives since with no issues, strange.
