MK5 BWA Engine Piston Pins
« on: March 29, 2023, 09:49:25 pm »
Hello there. We will make a forged engine right now. But we are confused a bit coz of piston pins. So my car has a 20mm piston pins. The questions is that can we use 21mm piston pins which used in ea888 gen1 engines? We are planning to use ea888 pistons, rods, springs, valves etc. Are they fit to ea113 bwa engine? Waiting for your feedback. Thanks in advance!

Below are the pistons, rods and others we will use in order for you to understand the exactly.
ZRP Pistons 43705-830
ZRP Rods R-AUD-006-IR
Ferrea Valve Spring Kit KT4007

Are these parts compatible with my bwa engine?
20mm pins replaced to 21mm pins.

Just use standard CDL or BYD 21mm pins, or some later CDLs used a 22mm pin.

Why use Gen1 E888 pistons? They are known to have weak piston rings which causes high oil consumption and excessive blow by.  I would use CDL pistons and rings.

We will not use EA888 pistons. Piston and rods are written below. The reason for specifying it as EA888; some EA113 engines use 20mm piston pins, some use 21mm piston pins. I stated it that way to avoid confusion.

The question is that; can we use 21mm pins instead of 20mm piston pins? Is it okay?

Yep, no problem using 21mm pins.
