Evening all, so been quietly plodding away on this, but now I have another car to use for a bit I am going to strip down the rear subframe to get everything powder coated and a full refresh.

Anyone got the parts list or a recommendation for all the bolts I’d need to put it all back together?

In the meantime I’ve finally got round to fitting my old boot build from my MK7.5 that I had

Also on the plans are to get some new suspension, anyone had any experience of these?

Cheers

And so it begins……..

Plan is to get everything on the body buzzed down with a wire brush then get it coats with Bilt Hamber deox gel, then zinc primed and back to silver when required.

Bought all new Febi arms and everything, wheel bearings, basically everything needed for the front and rear refresh.

Will post more pics on here as I get on

Got to to do the exact same job on my Edition 30, be interested to see what you find rust wise and how you get on.

Like you I will use the bilt hamber rust remover, I'm going to bare metal my inner arches and any rusty areas of the boot floor and then paint with a 2K epoxy followed by raptor . You can get it  all in cans now. That will be a better job than the factory did.

How's the mk1 ? is that finished ?

Aye mate, pretty much the same craic like, get it all clean and get it zinc primed and painted up.

Only found a small hole at the moment like so im suitably impressed…..the arch liners were holding a massive amount of mud haha!

Aye MK1 has been “done” for a while now, it needs a few bits still as they always do but I’ve done about 2000 miles in it since I finished the conversion, hasn’t skipped a beat tbh

Graney_ED30:
Well, got most of the bits stripped off the old subframe….the amount of surface rust that has come off is mental, but it still seems solid enough

Getting everything to the powder coating place hopefully tomorrow or Monday and then while they are away I’ll crack on with the rust treatment/undersealing/painting of the body.

Also got to order the rear brake lines as both of them just crumbled at the rear 😭 Hopefully still available, if not I’ll make some but I’d like this to be OEM fresh as possible

Probably just going to do the rear calipers myself tbh, I’ve got access to a blasting cabinet to get the thick of the corrosion off and then I’ll just get some new seals and slider pins for them, then get them painted up

Will get some more pictures up when the light is a bit better 😂

Actually had a question regarding the ARB’s - is it worth spending the extra money and getting some H&R/Whiteline type ARB’s or just sticking with the standard ones? I’m not planning on putting it on track as it is my daily……just wondering if the cost is worth it or not? It’s going to be lowered slightly on Blistein B8 Shocks and springs

Cheers
