golf gti 2.0 tfsi mk5 manual losing power then i attempt to boot it on motorway

hi any one have any idea what is causing loss of power when i attempt to boot it on the motorway
seems to only happen in high gears 4th 5th & 6th
when i put my foot down some times loses power and i have to slow right down to a stop then it acts normal again until it happens again
if anyone can help would be really thankful
