Edition 30 GTI front end cracking
« on: August 28, 2024, 02:15:23 pm »
Hello guys!

I'm having a problem with my car—there's a cracking noise coming from the front when I turn the wheel while stationary and when I accelerate or brake suddenly. The car in question is an '08 Golf 5 GTI ED30 with all Whiteline polyurethane bushings, all ball joints are new, Whiteline anti-lift kit, H&R thick sway bars, BC Racing suspension with 10/10 spring rate and camberplates with uniball, Passat B6 control arms and hubs(made of aluminum). The subframe has a subframe locking collar kit installed, and all the bolts are tightened to torque spec. However, one bolt, specifically from the steering rack, seems to be spinning freely, along with the nut in the rack. My question is, could the cracking noise be coming from there, or could it be something else?

Thanks!

I would say dry poly bushes. I used to have a similar issue then went back to OEM+ stuff. No more noises.
