Working out what to get...
« on: December 29, 2024, 07:11:22 pm »
Hi Folks,

I've got a MK5 GTI that I use as my daily driver. Its a DSG model, and currently just has a Superchips bluefin map on it (I know, I know).

I'm wanting to get the car tuned properly by R Tech, and I'm trying to work out which mods to go for. The car is in a good mechanical state, and its just about to have the cam chain and tensioner replaced, as well as an inlet clean with injectors inspected and serviced at the same time. Things like the PCV system have been replaced, and its got 'R8 Red' coil packs already. So, I think its a good base.

I don't want anything outlandish.

Current thoughts are either....

'Go Big' and do:
- Revo intake, BCS 200 Cell Sportscat with Downpipe, S3 Intercooler, Autotech HPFP internals

or, 'Go Budget' and do:
- BMC replacement panel filter, MPDevelopments 200 Cell Sportscat with Downpipe, S3 Intercooler, and VIS HPFP internals.

Now my understand is, the 'Go Big' choices there are 'the best' options for each part. My 'Go Budget' ones are simply a cheaper option that isn't total Aliexpress madness.

What are peoples thoughts please?

So, I ended up buying

Direnza Intake
MP Developments 200 Cell Downpipe
VIS HPFP
S3 Intercooler

Also grabbed some new NGK Iridium plugs so they're nice and fresh, and will get the inlet blasted and injectors cleaned and tested as I didnt manage to get that done at the same time as the Camchain
