Moschops:
Morning all,

Okay I'm about to change the RCD 500 for an RNS 510 and also wanted to integrate the Arm Rest CD changer, after some head scratching and with some help from fellow forum members these are the parts you will need.

Nearly all the parts. Only bit missing is the rubber mat for inside the arm rest, currently on order.

Arm Rest, this is the one for cars equiped with the Aux connection/MP3.

Aux connector

Wiring set RNS510 to CD Changer

6 CD Changer

This part is also available, if you can't get the CD changer and you want to wait, you can add this glove box storage into the CD changer slot.

Plus if the have the RNS510 you'll need one of these.

Moschops:

Next bit is to install but all being well that will be done on Tuesday...

Oh nearly forgot the RNS510 manual part number is  Art.-Nr.: 291.552.RNS.20 No idea on the price as I was given mine.

And finally a big thanks to:

SteveP (once again what this man doesn't know isn't worth knowing... :happy2: Cameluk and the Parts Team at Inchcape Shrewsbury (Martin, Subage and Graham)

Will let you know how the install goes...

If you are changing the standard arm rest to the version for the cd changer/mdi version and have the rear vents working then you will need to change the air channel pipe that runs underneath to clear the bottom of the cd changer

1K0 864 255  £14.50

The bottom part in this picture

Its the biggest pain in the rear to change over  :fighting: as it appears to be too big for the space available

Cheers Camel....someone else mentioned the air pipe...and I forgot it... :stupid:

I take the top part is already in the car..round the gearstick/DSG shift?

cameluk:
Yes the top part is  from the dashboard to the handbrake and should already be there if you have rear vents, and doesn't need to be changed

There are two different versions that run under the armrest, one for the cd changer armrest and and different version for the standard arm rest

Why they didn't have one standard part to supports both armrests is Volkswagen making things more complicated
