Sparky Craig:
P.S. Not my pictures, but the best I can do at short notice :ashamed:
Hope this helps.
Craig.
Andy:
you need to remove the air vents at the top first..before you can get to the two screws
here is a guide

you don't need to disconnect the hazard switch and the air bag wire just lift the centre panel out of the way

They sell them in Halfords for about £10 or you can get them off flea bay.
All you do then is insert the tool in between the trim and the dash and gently pry it out all round.

Steady on there Tiger
The Golf is put together different to the Skoda. You need to take the top vents out first which gives access to the front screws for that panel.
As has been said a decent set of trim tools will help.
I use these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sykes-Pickavant-5-Piece-Trim-Removal-Tool-Set-/390160244097?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item5ad75cdd81
If a sausage fingered ape such as myself can manage it then I am sure you can Robin.
Actually I am sure it has been posted on here a few times.
