a motorsport section
« on: May 25, 2010, 07:12:12 pm »
we have an f1 thread which i think works well, however we have nothing for BTCC or other racing events like of motoGP etc.

maybe a specific subforum for all things motorsport

Another good idea  :happy2:

I've already got an AmDMilltek BTCC thread on the go which could be moved. When I'm not at the circuit with them, I'm their armchair correspondent getting live messages of their team's action shortly after it happens.

I think the threads we have for now are OK in the random chat section.

Any more boards or child boards will just clutter up the site IMHO  :happy2:

what about changing the f1 child forum to a motorsport child forum an then the f1 thread can go inside that, along with btcc etc

It's not a child at present it's just a sticky topic. Child boards get used very little.

I agree, simple works best, if you guys post in a thread regularly then we can make it a sticky easy enough. Child boards are just a pain and dont get used even though they got put there when people requested them. Take a look at the revo and other maps boards 99.9% of the posts in their were just transferred their by us since. Most people dont hunt down the correct place to post, somewhere close seems to do.
Most of the threads i move are so the search database works correctly in future.  :happy2:

Yep, although a dedicated Motorsport section would be great, I can see the points which Steve and TC are making. Even when I've posted a question in a child folder it can so easily get missed. Also, you have to be quite determined to find some topics.

However, is there nowhere else a Motorsport section could go? - How about a board alongside Trackdays? - They are kinda related and the F1 board would be more logically moved and placed there too (within the Motorsport folder).

I'm just trying to contribute ideas even if not always good ones!
