Thanks for that link, Jay :happy2:

Trouble is, it would cost me £30 for what is probably a once-in-a-lifetime use! That's nearly half of what the trim wrapping will cost me inc vat.

....I'm back home now and have done the deed - I'll edit that Rocco post and post a new one here under How To's and I'll credit the guy for his pics and info.

So.....soon, guys  :happy2:

My upholstery guy turns out to be a friend of a friend and lent me a set of those nice blue polythingy tools and also a star-bolt doer/undoer (sounds Dutch) for next week.

they come off quite easy but can also bend easily, i had mine off a while back to find a rattle.   dont worry if they bend though they straighten back.  and i think it would be hard to lose any clips  :happy2:  all the clips seem lose without the strips though

....So you can pull them off without removing any door cards etc?

Any tool which is best to use as a lever?

Start in the middle? End?

[You can tell how good I am at such things!]
i started at the ends and the door card def stays on, and as above the best things are those plastic trim remover thingys  :happy2:

My driver side aluminium door trim has developed a rather irritating rattle lol - so will be removing and putting a bit of double sided tape behind it to stop that!

....Be careful not to break any more of the rather fragile plastic fixings when removing/refixing. These strips aren't really designed to be taken on and off by VW's customers!

I suspect the previous owner broke one of the clips, hence why it makes a noise unless I press it in!

It's not that loud, just irritating, 9 times out of 10 the stereo will drown out any rattles, after all, I am in Essex
