10 speakers....option???

Hi all, just going through all the codes in the front page of my handbook and one of them says decodes to 10 speaker!, i have a gti pirelli with rns510 factory fit. Is the 10 speaker standard with rns system of was it an option as i was led to believe standard was 8 speakers!

Yes with the RNS-510 you get 10 speakers  :happy2:

The option (available for some models, but not the ED30 or Pirelli IIRC) was for the soundpack with included an amp fitted under the passenger seat.

Also the first gti's (with aluminium lid over cig lighter) came with 10 speakers, it was only through cost cutting that they went to 8 speakers

Mine also has 10 speakers and the Amp under the seat.  :grouphug:

My ED30 has got 10-speakers (no Soundpack, however I could have specced it in the options).

10-speakers came with the RCD500 CD-changer option, otherwise it would have been 8.

Amp?  I've had a look under my passenger seat it doesn't seem to have anything?  What does it look like?

Early GTIs came with 10 speakers and no amp. An amp could be fitted by VW dealers as part of an upgraded soundpack. On later Mk5 GTIs this was reduced to 8 speakers and no amp. I think now it's back up to 10 speakers and no amp, or the Dynaudio pack with 10 speakers and an amp.

it is under the passenger seat, i found mine by accident, before this i didnt even know i had one !! (ps its under a plastic cover)
