Need a new rear VW badge, advise needed!

What we saying guys?
Would that one fit the early MK5 GTI's?
Is it a case, with the old ones, of simply prizing the logo part of the badge away, and sticking this one over it? Same principle if using a MK4 Badge?
If that's the case, im assuming you can do this with the bootlid still on, rather than need to take it off?

Not necessarily, the VW badges on the tailgate handles have small tabs which fit inside the black plastic of the boot handle, if these dont marry up you may have to cut them off and then stick it to the boot handle. This could look crap if not done properly.
