I just bought a MK6 boot badge, got it for £24.99 from that well known auction site!

I will be fitting it this weekend, I got a new set of wheel caps last week too for £23 from silverwagen on eBay so they are the genuine ones which won't suffer with whiteworm.

Im contemplating replacing the wiper motor at the same time, as I do suffer with the rear wiper going off whenever it feels like it when turning the car on - would probably make sense to change it at same time as im in that area anyway... Is it an easy job to replace the motor?

I replaced mine today on an '06 with a handle from a '58 plate golf. Just be aware you might not be able to reconnect the wiring to the new handle as the connector is in a different position and the wiring loom won't stretch. :fighting:

And another moan...the old handle was all metal, and a really solid feel to opening the hatchback. The new one's plastic and just doesn't feel right.

Am I right in saying the Mk6 boot badge isn't damped like the mk5 one either? My dad's got a mk6 with the bevelled badge and when you release it just slams back instead of the nice smooth damped action of the mk5 one. My mk5 has only got a tiny bit of white worm right at the bottom of the badge, you can't see it so I'll leave it be I think!

Seems to me the mk6 badge is another example of cost cutting, yes it might not have the white worm problem but you can see where they've penny pinched!

My sill plates are suffering from the white worm problem as well.

Wish I read that before i started today lol  :surprised:. I did however manage to get a small amount of slack in the wiring loom and reconnect the wiring thank feck  :happy2: It's a little bit of a stretch but it will do for now! I really dont fancy taking all that trim off again it was an absolute mare to get back on  :fighting:
