If your looking at any cold air intake system, you will need to update the fuel pump aswell, or you will be into fuel starvation issues/flat spots under full throttle. Cotton element filter avoids this, slightly improves air flow and increases throttle responsiveness slightly, but obviously doesn't give you a 10-15bhp gain which a CAI system would.
Really does depends on how deep your pockets are chap.

Really steve? I thought that you could; for example, run an ITG and down pipe with stage 2 software without upgrading the fuel pump?
