Diverter Valve - Quicky!
« on: September 26, 2010, 01:29:42 pm »
Hey guys

Yesterday I took a 140km to Franschoek with the bf in my Smart car which is obviously turbo'ed from the factory.

Everything working and running, hauling at high speed. Stopped and a few hours later I pulled away and lost almost all power. No sound from the turbo at all and as said. Very little power.

Today had the bumper off and checked all hoses etc. No tears and all on tight. Tried disconnecting the battery etc etc and it still refuses.

When it is on it sounds like it is missing and the exhaust makes a buffing sound.

I doubt it is the turbo that has gone as there was no revving or smoke and no noise when I lost power.

When I start the ignition though I can hear a high pitch squeal / whine from what I have identified as the diverter valve on this car.

Would you guys agree that this is probably the problem? A damaged dv making the car go into safe mode?

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Mike
