When I changed over to my winter wheels (OEM VW Zolders) I was shocked at how heavy they were. There was a definitely noticable weight difference...

Lightweight rims have less meat on them and a much higher chance of cracking / buckling if you hit a decent pot hole or kerb though, great for track wheels IMO

....That's doubtless true and yet my 18" OZ Alleggerita's which only weigh 8kg have been ridden over some potholes etc which I haven't been able to avoid yet they remain undamaged.

Kerbs? No way do I have contact with those!
