Thats funny Alex, booked two days off to spend at work!

Do you have to put a sign up next to you saying 'do not talk to me I am not here?'

Looking forward to the hybrid and how it performs.

Some news.  I've booked off two days in August to spend at work going the turbo and rods.  As I'm honing the bores and fitting new rings its going to take a week of running in to finally know what the hybrid is like.  After having the turbo for so long I am fooking excited to get it fitted.

i love the idea of a .400hp octavia estate, its genius

Reminds me of an Imperial Blue escort estate on understated 17" wheels.....

....With 4x4 running gear and Cosworth engine, that used to call in at the tuning garage when I was an apprentice

Right then.  The engine is built and the hybrid is fitted.  Just running it in, but even at 1 bar of boost its rapid.  Pics to follow later.

I'm trying the Revo stage 3 file at the moment.  I've got them to add linear throttle to the map, but as the hybrid isn't hugely different it should work fine.  All it may do is run out of fuel at the top with too much boost.

So, to the pics:

Inlet mani off

Head came off and then the old guts came out

Almost new pistons (from a 500mile X-Bow lump) fitted with new rings mated to the IE rods with some 'Sputter' big end bearings

One set back was having to strip the head to clean out the inlet ports and valves.  The gunk was a fooker to clean off.  After pics only.

My tray after cleaning (also need to repaint the wall!!)

I welded a boss onto the sump to hook up my Defi oil temp gauge.  Welded really nicely unlike most sumps.

Pistons all fitted with some ARP head studs

Only 200 miles left of running in.  I need the boost  :happy2:

 :happy2:

The carbon on the valves was solid.  A blade, scotch brite, brake cleaner and a pillar drill got it all off in the end.  The deposits on the head were a sticky carbon gunge which scraped off ok then a clean with scotch brite on a wheel.  Most of the build up was on the back of the port where the only way to get to it was by removing the valves.  I will take the inlet off in 5k to see how much sh*t appears back on the valves.  Im running the forge tank.

My next thing is to chuck the battery in the boot.  Ive got a red top 30 or 40 that should fit in the side cubby hole nicely.  Been inspired by all these little batteries appearing on certain cars on here!!

Alex.

In the shot of the Bung you have welded, in the background is your sump machined out for the stock Oil Level/Temp Sensor too?
