Screws
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:53:47 pm »
Any idea on how I can find out what screws are used in the door? Or even the rest of the car?

Been reading through the guides but it doesn't tell you anything.

Or do you mean the actual thread size and bolt head style?

I appear to be missing a screw from one of the doors, most likely from when I had to have to doorskin resprayed. Hadn't noticed for months afterwards until I asked a mate to see if he could tell if one side had been resprayed or not. The only clue was part of the doorskin near the mirror didn't sit flush with the front wing.

So I would like to replace the missing screw.

Can't help but apparently all the skin screws are not the same length so double check with the other door.

Kinda. I got the right screw from the dealer for a few pennies, went home and then realised it had a funny star shaped slot in the head. Tried using pliers which were okay but couldn't tighten the screw. Somehow managed to lose the screw (never noticed when it went missing) so am going back to dealers this week and buy another one. Maybe a few just in case!

Not sure if it is Torx but I didn't have the right size screwdriver.
