Not sounding too good, any idea's.
« on: November 20, 2010, 06:37:25 pm »
Have my edition 30 for just over a week now and it's been running fine but just over the past few days it's stared to sound a bit off.

Stared her up the other morning and it made a noise like it would if you were trying to start the car when it was already started.

Also when she sits at idle it's just not sounding good, making a tapping noise. Will this just the cold ormhas this happened to anyone else.  Might take it up to the dealers on Monday but just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas?

Thanks

Richard

I reckon the starter motor is slightly sticky, and staying engaged momentarily.  Fairly common on VW's.

Dont know if this helps as audible guidance Hendo, but I thought mine was running a little roughly until I heard this on youtube, it sounds exactly like mine (car in vid is a ko4 Ed30 whereas mine is a ko3 GTI - the vids decent quality hence why I found it useful to compare to)

After hearing that, I suspected mine probably isn't that rough  Who knows?

Hi,

So I just watched the video and on start up mine sounds like that.  It sounds a bit rough to me? is this normal?
