What's the best black external trim detailer?
« on: February 07, 2011, 06:37:43 pm »
I am after something that does not streak, looks very dark and lasts.

Any suggestions? I have heard Chemical Guys New Look Trim Gel is meant to be very good but I have no experience of it.

There's a lot of threads about this if you search:

Different people have found different products. The longer lasting ones tend to be based on some kind of nanotech/sealant etc. I've tried a few products and have not been convinced by any of them so far.

Cheers Stealth, MJT :happy2:

It's a strange thing detailing, everyone has a different opinion about what works best. As new products are released opinions change so I wondered if the Chemical Guys stuff was seen to be the best.

I use a fair bit of trim stuff on our mini cooper and two vans and go between Autosmart trim wizard, valetpro yellow bumper gel and also dionysis trim glitz. Interested in trying out the new AG pumpasol see if its any good.

Autoglym bumper care for me.....but whats the best product to clean the black plastic trim? The cleaning of the trim has a great influence on how the finish is with each product.

When snowfoaming, or spraying with APC, use a brush one the black plastic/rubber bits. I use megs triple duty brush. If you want, it can be done separate to the rest of the car. Use APC on a brush and then work the trim with the brush. Wipe or rinse and once dry, use your trim detailer.

The plastic won't mark but am not sure about the rubber - tend to use a softer brush on these.
