Sounds exactly what good brakes should do!

VW just haven't gone that extra mile on the GTI and especially the Ed30 - Wouldn't drivers have preferred better brakes to red stitching!?

I guess their thinking is that there's a healthy aftermarket out there for such options. Actually we get better choices in the aftermarket imo.

Apologies again on any suggestion you drink-drive - I would hope that absolutely no-one on this forum does so.

Just heading out now for a drive over the Debyshire peaks, Snake and Woodhead pass. Should help get the miles up!!

Love the look of the Alcons 8)

Whatever happens....DO NOT PAINT THEM!!!! they look great just as they are. I'd be tempted to paint the rears to match the colour if it was me. :happy2:

In the words of my mate with a TTS, who came out for the Peaks Cannonball this weekend - "I see brake lights, and then a second later it's panic and I have to slam on before I run up your arse!!"

They're possibly the best road orientated BBK I have used, and I'm very thankful as I was a bit worried about buying them, knowing nothing about them. Track action remains the final test, but if Regal have run them for the past 2 years on their VW Cup winning car, they can't be that bad!

So progressive, so iron fist in a silk glove, so perfect for the car.

Yes, it'll be the last of my money that particular supplier will ever have, a full story for Sunday. mike was pulling his hair out over them and some of their other handiwork.

With a good BBK on roads (not track) you really have to watch who's behind you and that your braking doesn't deposit them in your back seat!

They're a 343mm/4-pot caliper.

I've also got braided hoses and track pads all round (no squeaking either, thankfully) plus Motul RBF600 fluid. It still seems pretty 'flat' on braking, unless it's from very high speed and then it can get a little nose down, no fade whatsoever so far. As the rear discs come to end of life, I'll change them for some R32/S3 ones to bring the balance back... but I don't feel the need to rush yet.

You can get a 365mm/6-pot MKII Audi TT kit (about a £240 premium), but I couldn't find out if it would fit a Golf properly. I don't see why not though?

I think if I'd have gone for the bigger fronts, I'd have had to do the rears straight away. Just personal preference, but I don't like tail happy cars under braking... some people find this a plus point though, depends on your style I suppose?

Oh, and I'm not painting them - can't be bothered!! Might match up the rears when I get them though.
