I'm also new here to the forum and the hugely proud owner of a new Mkv GTI DSG in Red..   I've only had it for 4-5 days, but is clearly one of the most impressive cars I've ever owned..

Similar to yourself - I upgraded from a SEAT Leon Cupra R Mk1 2003 212bhp.   The MKV tho is a huge step up from the Cupra R IMO.  The chassis on the Cupra doesn't even compare to that of the GTI's.  Although the speed feels similar in both the GTI just feels more solid and with much less torque steer aswell.  The DSG helps it along and puts a smile on my face everytime....   Grin

Enjoy!

Hi mate,
Yeh SEAT are good but i forgot just how good vdubs are!! I've been spoilt now! I've still got the leon parked in  me drive at the mo and every now and then i have to move it and as soon as i sit in it i want to get out of it and get straight back in the GTI .
You got any mods planned with your new investment mate?

I don't blame you  :happy2:  The GTI's a nice place to be! Out of interest whats the interior-option in yours?

- not planning on any mods just yet, wanna enjoy it standard for a while, its a great car.  The rear tyres need changing in a few months so I've decided to wrap all four in some quality tyres - treat myself to either some Vredestein Ultrac Sessantaor or some Michelin Pilot Sport 3.. (first mod )

Possible re-map in the future..

Its a black 3dr with the heated leathers which the mrs loves (i swear she's gonna burn a hole straight through soon lol), cruise control, 6 disc changer in arm rest, auto headlights, rear parking sensors, dimming rear view and wing mirrors, electric folding wing mirrors, xenon headlights, cooled glovebox... and i think thats it  :happy2:.
I'm keeping mine standard... Gonna remap in the future when i can afford to put it down on me insurance but thats alls i'm planning do to it. I don't want mess with it too much really

DSGAndy:
The first MKv GTI I test drove had a pretty similiar spec - black 3dr, leather seats/heated.  Must admit I did like the heated leathers.  I'm curretly sporting the classic GTI tarten look (its growing on me thets say lol)..

I have the same ops otherwise on my Red GTi, apart from the 6disc changer in the armrest - mine is in the main center console/headunit..  Glad i've got the armrest tho.  Had one in the Cupra r and got used to driving with it.

 - Same boat as me pretty much then.  Re-map after a year of ownership at the very least.  Not sure on exterior mods - I'm very much of the thought that the more you change it, the more you ruin it - it get losts amongst all the other modded versions.  Thats not to say that some out there are indeed very nice.  But im sertainly not into painting the black sport skirts Red, I like em - sets out the originality of the ar IMO..

Work + finish early = the long way (drive) home!

The chequered seats are still smart though mate i like em. They sounding pretty similar then mate yeh. Have you got the monza 2's?
I agree with not altering the cosmetics and that tho... i had my leon on coilovers and forgot how a normal suspension feels... Its great not cringing everytime you see a pothole lol. i aint bothering messing with the suspension on the gti. I'm just gonna get meself some pressed plates and keep it polished up and original  :happy2:

Yes mate I've got ye ol' Monza 2's  :happy2:

I remember when I owned the MKI Cupra R - I must of have gone through 3 or 4 splitters i used to dread multi-storey car parks.  Not anymore!

Definitely similiar cars with very similiar intentions then.  I'm planning on posting a few snaps of it in a sec..
