Chrome tail pipe

My chrome tail pipe is blackish at the bottom and has small black spots on it, would wire wool clean it up like new (ish) and take away the blackness ? will it still be chrome under the black stuff ?

Very fine grade wire wool and some metal polish and itll look good as new

What I used was 00 wire wool with autosol metal cleaner from halfords and alot of elbow grease and buff off with autosol and a dry clean rag - should look as good as new when you're finished

I have used wonder wheels before with great success on tail pipes and exhaust boxes where they can be seen from behind
