How best to remove scratches?
big al:
I do keep thinking that a good detailing session is in order, though like the satisfaction of doing it myself.
Out with the phone book it is then.

There are no wonder products or something that you will find in Halfords that will sort it. Anything you do get sucked into buying that claims to remove scratches will 9 times out 10, will leave you wishing you didn't bother in the first place

I agree, though to remove a scratch you can feel with your nail is not possible with machine polishing unless you go down the wet sanding route which most people will not consider.
So you either have it repaired or 'try' something like a home solution.

If you can feel a scratch with you finger nail it's a very deep one. Your going to have to remove a lot of lacquer around the area of the scratch to remove it. It's successful quite a lot but it is worth bearing in mind you will be reducing the longevity of the clear coat when your are wet sanding 20 microns plus.
