Thanks that means a lot !

Only taken on my second trip out with it, but gives the OP an idea of how even for a beginner the rapid shot allows you to get some great pictures.

Damn I came home to all these replies after I have bought one!  :ashamed:

I had a long chat with a man in Jessops today, after trying the cannon 1100 and nikon D3100 I decided I preferred the Nikon so I bought it. Just waiting for the battery to charge and then I will have a play with it! He said the body will be more than good enough and if my skills do develop quickly then buying a better lens would make a big difference. The kit came with a 18 - 55mm f/3.5-5.gG VR lens  :signLOL:

Cheers for the advice!

Good choice Ollie. The D3100 is a great camera.

Good lens to get you started. I use a Tamron 18-55 F2.8 on mine and thats a cracking lens

ollie288:
Glad to hear I made the right choice. I preferred the feel of the nikon. Also the man, took 4 pictures with both cameras, portrait, landscape, zoom and portrait with a flash and the nikon seemed better on all four. (Jessops agreed)

I think I have a lot to learn but I am looking forward to it. (The manual is huge!!)

Are there any good photography sites you use? :happy2:

alexperkins:
I used a book to learn mine. Really helpful...covered all the basics and alot more and wasnt expensive either! Can find its details if you want
