Nah, I disagree. On a Nikon crop sensor (DX) first lens in my mind should be the 35mm F1.8. Gives a better "standard" field of view than the 50mm with will act as 75mm on DX.

Now if you have full frame like my...cough cough...Nikon D3 and D3S, then the 50mm F1.4 is a cracking lens.

Super photography Alex and really subtle processing. Prefer Lightroom 3 and PS CS5 personally, as it suits my workflow better.

D3 is next on my list, but the D80 does what I need for now

I tried lightroom but wasnt keen on its interface - i guess it just what you are used to

I do use PS CS5 though  :happy2:

One thing about going full frame which is quite often overlooked (apart from the amazing high ISO performance), is the amazingly shallow depth of field (much less than a crop sensor). So using something like my 85mm F1.4 or 70-200VR results in superb subject isolation at wide apertures and lovely bokeh. Just need to be spot on with your focussing though.
