RR day at PD Tuning on Saturday 16th July- Newcastle area
heavyd:
Just had an email and new map is being sent tomorrow amazing what difference Dsg map makes :fighting: :fighting:
Dave hasnt got a stage 2+ equivalent thats why I went to shark......
Shark map has loads more boost :driver:
chungster:
crikey its asking for 1.5bar all the way to 6k rpm!!
no wonder it's pulling some timing! Most maps would have started to tail off.
Think you should get an EGT gauge fitted.
Janner_Sy:
Bear in mind the pdt map is stage 2 and the shark performance map is stage 3 so will have more boostbut see what you mean bout normally tailing off
Timing pull is much less on those logs dom, is that pre dsg remap or post. AFR bang on as well
PDT:
The addition of the Revo DSG map doesnt cause high timing pull, too much advance in the map is the problem here, or bad fuel maybe high intake temps?
When mapping any car I always try and get as close as possible to Zero timing pull by advancing timing bit by bit until you get an even 1-3 degrees of pull and then you know you are close to MBT (minimum best timing) and take out a little to be on the safe side, then the customer also has lots of headroom incase of high intake temps or needing to use a 95ron fuel, or both. A certain amount of mechanical sympathy is a good thing.
An engine pulling 8 on the timing wont make any more power than one pulling 1. When too much timing is pulled this can cause over retardation which in turn causes higher exhaust temps.
Looks like you might have another road trip Dom, and more data logging (go easy on the brakes )
I still dont offer a stg2+ (other than Revo) for these very reasons, way too much work needs to go into them, far too much to expect a customer to be able to cope with understanding let alone expecting them to datalog and remedy the maps by trial and error by email. Superchips had the same issue with Bluefin, so they make the map stupidly safe with very little ignition advance and slightly rich fuelling (otherwise known as "vanilla flavoured mapping") there is a lot more that needs to go into a good stg2+ than a bit more boost, ignition timing and fuel
Did u get an overlay graph of the current stg2+ and our Stg2?

The last logs were fresh after the dsg map, on a colder day.
I'll wait and see what tomorrows map brings, at the end of the day, they did a good job the last time with improving the map, might need a road trip, but at least they have a dyno now
The last time they added loads of timing, the dsg box was interfering and there wasnt any timing pull showing. When they upped the torque limiter the timing pull shot up, so I guess the same has happened again.
I have faith in Mikko!!! :notworthy:
I never did get the overlaid map Dave, I only got the 'hold 2 dyno sheets of paper against the window to see the difference' version :signLOL:
