Lambo doors
« on: March 21, 2009, 04:19:55 pm »
Sounds silly but has anyone (successfully) managed to fit these on to their mk5? I know peeps round here might not have but reckon some of the US MK5ers might've done this?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

There was also a guy who had his done. It was on a red GTI with black centred bonnet and roof. I saw this well before Awesome had theirs done.

Why? .....are you tempted?

Not temptation so much as need. I'm looking to move elsewhere when my current contract runs out. If I end up back in Brum, depending on where I work, I may end up staying with parents. And if that happens, there is no frikkin way I'm gonna get in and out of the car through the boot!

It's bad enough I have to do it whenever I visit the rents but the garage isn't big enough for me to open the door enough to get in and out.

Lambo doors may be an option but it depends on how much space they need. If it's too much, either I'll end up buying a cheapo banger that I'm not afraid to leave out on the street or I'll find elsewhere to live.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I had Awesomes demo car for a week last year, the lambo doors fit and work really well but are a gimmick really for marketing to attract attention. They weren't my cup of tea but the 2 young lads I skate with loved them

.... x2   Pleeeeeeease don't do it

Mr Blue will even allow you to run your fogs on 24/7 if you don't do it

I tell you what though - If you do do it, everyone will want to see it and have a go opening and closing your doors! Charge £1 per go and you'll soon recover your costs.

....

Just a thought (NOT for me I hasten to add!!) - Could you fit a 'gullwing' mechanism on just the driver's door?

Lol but remember - I'm not doing this for style - more functionality.

Other than moving house, do guys have any better options on how to get in and out of a car that just about fits in the garage?

Hahaha! I find this really funny that someone is actually wanting to do a lambo door conversion for the practicality that it brings!

Great reason to do it Stealth - I say go for it!!!  :happy2:

House was built years ago, from a time when a rich man could park his jag in the garage.

My dad's 190E merc fits.
My old Ford fiesta fits.
My new golf fits but I can't open the door!

The plan is to move out of the area but it's a bit difficult at the mo.
