Yeah you've got to at least see it finished and go for a proper drive in it before you can decide. I think anybody who modifys this heavily has been there at some point with the frustration. Hard to love something when you haven't driven it for that long, I definitely had some doubts towards the end of my build since I hadn't driven properly for nearly 3 months so can only imagine how you feel. I'm sure when she's done and you give her a good spanking you'll remember exactly why you love her :drinking:

How do you mean @Orc ?
Replacement rings turned up, pistons re-fitted. Balance shaft delete has been done on the oil pump, which hopefully will improve reliability.
Head had to go back to machine shop to have valve seats cut as the valves couldn't be lapped in due to wear / pitting. Im fuxxing baffled as to how the engine is in such a state after the maintenance regime it's had.
Not sure if the injectors are back from inspection / cleaning yet.
Gonna try and flog the trackway I had booked end of March as chances are the car won't be running in time. Never really felt more like more like selling up.
What would a 420hp, freshly rebuild motor with a sorted chassis go for?

Sorry dude I didn't know if you had blown it up or something?
Tfsi_Mike:
Ah. So...
May or may not have mentioned along the way;
Went in for Clutch, WMI, Fluid Dampr, Turbo swap for TTE420, FPRV swap for 155 bar, AKS braided gearbox lines and Wheel stud swap for ones that aren't totally sh*t and don't rust. (probably a few other bits Ive forgotten)
Alex couldn't get the manifold studs off from my K04, they had seized. So head had to come off for machine shop to drill them out.
While the head was off, Alex told me that the bores should be honed, so the block had to be stripped and sent to the machine shop too.
Oh that was another gremlin, the valves couldn't be lapped / seated as there was wear and pitting to the valve faces, back to the machine shop.
A piston ring snapped during installation, another setback while a new set were sent out.
Now, as Alex is booked up there's no time for him to stick it all back together so stuck without if for now. Crank and pistons are back in, valves & springs are back in.
On the bright side, it will be as new internally and should be great on track. :driver:
Given me the chance to fit an uprated head gasket, ARP headbolts, TTRS brake MC, Alex had trimmed the alternator bracket to do away with the bit where my a/c pump used to go.
I've sold the Turinis to soften the cost of the unexpected work, which is gutting cause they looked ace on the car.
Sad times
Orc:
Ah, sad times dude, I know what you've been through though as I've done a complete build on mine and havnt driven it for 5 odd months. At Nikis playing now though and looks like all the hard work has paid off, as hit 458hp on the tte420 already with ease. Still a lot to do but should be great on track.
