TT hub - different to S3/B6
jimk04:
Are all the ally hibs - ie S3,TT and B3 Passat the same?
I have read uncertain comments about the TT one having a different set up regards the track rod end...?

The tt hubs are different to the s3 and passat hubs. The ball joint mount is lower. I believe the s3 and the passat hubs are the same.
I will be fitting my tt hubs soon then I will know if they fit ok or not. I'm probably going to use some tt tie arms and rod ends too.

And then you have to make a thread about it :) There are too many questions about this :)

^^^^!!
Have read up loads and still not 100%!
If the difference is in the lower ball joint pick up - (I think its to alter the angle of the wishbones - make them flatter?) - then the issue with needing TT tie rods and joints is nonsense - as the part of the hub that picks up the track rod ends is unchanged?!
I read that the TT tie rods are much shorther to accept the longer cast ally TT track rod end. The threads are both M16x1.5 so a GTI tie rod could be cut down and threaded (on the car if need be) to allow use of TT alloy rod end....if thats how peeps want to go!

The issue is that the TT hubs and wishbones together increase the camber and caster which means you have to wind the rod ends out quite a way to get the toe correct. This doesnt leave that many threads holding the rod ends to the tie arms. The gti tie arms are not threaded all the way so to cut them down enough to fit the TT rod ends wouldnt leave any threads.
The safest way is to fit the TT rods and arms or fit some longer rod ends to the gti arms.
