1000D, 450D or D60
« on: May 18, 2009, 10:33:42 am »
Chaps,

I have been wanting to buy a DSLR for some time.

I have a wedding this weekend & have decided to jump in this week.

I have borrowed a pals 400D in the past & it is great.

1000D I fancy, but do I push to a 450? I have had Nikon SLR's of old & they have always been great.

The D60 does not have live veiw though is this something I would miss.

My budget was £400 but now I am looking at £500. This is the absolute tops

Any advise would be greatly

i would say 450D also

jessops were running a deal where you get a big memory card, accesories pack, 2 lens's and a canon bag for about £600 iirc

but used will be cheaper if your budget is £500

I'm also looking to upgrade from my Minolta Dynax 500SI,

Been looking at the EOS 40D and now looking at the 50D...hmmm decision, decisions...

Camera warehouse and Amazon have some good deals which include a lens or two.

Or this is good for just the body..

It is 670 with 18/55 and a card. The video capture is very impressive and sold me.

I will do a review thingy once I have played for a bit. I was really set on spending NO MORE tha £500, but with family hols, days out etc, the video mode was appealing and having seen it, its the muts. I am not a movie maker but for odd blasts of the family it will be great having it all in one package.

what swayed you to the 500 over the 450?

Mainly the ability to shoot HD movie in 1080p or 720. Screen seems better and there were several other points that made it appealing

the 500 does seem the puppy of choice, i do hope so as it will drive the price of the 450's down into a price i can aquire one at my budget

its the lens...oh the choice ... oh the cost

I don't think so Mos. The only other Canon to shoot HD is the 5D.

When the 500 was released only a couple of months ago it was £800 & something, but quickly dropped to the upper £700's.

I popped into the local Jessops to make a purchase (£799.00) & the very nice lad said 'bank holiday specials start tomorrow let me just check'. Came back and said '£679 tomorrow with free 8gb card & bag'.

Don't you just love service like that......

Says he will have me one in before the weekend (need for a wedding) poss today.

So on that basis VC one would think the price on the 450 will head south.
