Ed, I had my paint readings done Friday AM (a week today) and the Dealership called me yesterday at lunchtime.

whats the chances with 126k and not full VW history??? also rust has now cracked the paint?

They just told me they will cover 50% of the side that has not been painted before.

They said they will email me the quote....yeah ok.


I have asked for the reference number so I can contact Vw uk and state my case for 100%, anyone know the email address for them? Or the snail mail address?

Mine went in to VW on Monday! They said they will discuss with VW UK and call me back! Not heard anything yet.

They gave me a courtesy car so I will wait for them to call me!

I have an appointment at 4ppm today about my arches and sills.  Over the pphone they said that if it is covered under warranty VW wwill pay 50% of the costs.  I questioned this on the phone and was told that if it is agreed they need doing then I will have to contact VW directly to discuss further.  Fingers crossed they at least agree the work should be done under warranty!!

SO I took my car in last night, very friendly people at the VW bodyshop.  They took pictures and paint depths, agreed they were aware of the common issue and said they will send the report off to VW today and let me know the outcome.  He did say that VWs policy is to pay 50% towards the cost.  I questioned the fact that a lot of people have had theirs done for free and he said that VW were paying 100% up until May 1st 2013 (typical of my luck!).  Assuming they agree it is a warrenty repair I will then have to take up the case with VW directly.  Will be hassle but Ive got nothing to lose!!

I complained.

The lady that called me from VW uk contacted VW Wrexham on my behalf and Wrexham have agreed to cover the other 50%

Insane that a dealer is having to pay too, but spoke honestly with the warranty guy at Wrexham and they still make money even if they "pay" 50%.

He also asked for pictures of the arch that VW refused to cover and he said there's a good chance we can sort that too FOC.

I took my car to Preston Vw, they were aweful. Wrexham have been ok thus far, only time will tell
