Yup...thats the standard dealer response now.  You can make a claim directly to VW Customer Care, but the likelihood is that you won't get any more

Hmmm well ive just had my car inspected by Listers coventry and although they agree that the corrosion on both of my 2005 gti wings they are only willing to pay a 50% goodwill gesture as it is not a warranty issue

Apparently this is not a corrosion warranty issue???

Listers Coventry did mine and I was in the same boat as you middle of last year.  Check inside your tailgate handle as well they did that at 50/50 split as well.    :happy2:

Yep, they won't honour it under the corrosion warranty. However, when they do replace the wings for free, they just call it a "goodwill gesture". Kick up a fuss and they might give you a better offer.

Can I ask
What's the reason they give for it not being covered by 12 yr anti corrosion garrentee ?
As isn't rust corrosion ?
Had a clean of mine today and both wings are bad

Mine are pretty bad but I'm not sure if mine would be covered.

They had tiger seal put underneath by the last owner and where I've had wider wheels on it's taken that of and also taken the paint with it.

Would vw still cover me?

They said that the corrosion has to be from inside out and it has to have perforated the body. Stupid really because no-one is gonna wait till there is a hole in the body before they take it to get the rust looked at! Just a cleverly worded warranty so they have to pay out as rarely as possible I guess.

Hi, I got my mk5 back from the bodyshop last week with new front wings replaced and painted. Originally VW said I would have to pay 50% of the cost which was £450 but then they said that if I got a major service done at my local VW dealer for £299 they would pay the full cost. I suppose £299 is better than £450 but I would rather have paid nothing. Still at least the bodyshop did an excellent job and they gave the car a really good valet and polish so all I had to do was to giv e it a good coat of collinite - need my sunglasses on now!

Well ive just got off the phone to James @VW customer services.

I've never been given so much flanel in all my life! There is no way on gods earth that they will budge from the 50% good will that i was offered originally by the dealer that inspected my car

Even after threatening them with the small claims court he continually repeated the 'anti perforation' line is not the same as anit corrosion and not covered under that warranty!

Going to get quotes from local bodyshops and scour ebay for second hand tornado red wings.

f*ck you VW and your customer service department  :stupid:

They've obviously changed their stance as I had both wings replaced 100% free, that was about 15 months ago I think.

I have had mine expected and awaiting the phonecall. No doubt its going to cost an arm and a leg. As a corporate company you would hope they are consistent in their dealings with their customers and I get the same deal as MVB.
