Oil Level
« on: July 06, 2012, 03:19:25 pm »
Is there any truth that engine oil 'finds a level'?

Supposing if you do a full oil change and fill with the capacity 4.5/6/7 litres and subsequently use the car day to day. Upon regular oil checks you see the level drop consistently, but not alarmingly. Will it always eventually fall to a dangerous low or will it stop at its 'level'??

I'm thinking there is no truth to that. Or the level it finds is zero.  You are either pushing oil past the pistons or not.   But I'm open to being corrected.
