opinions on linear throttle map?

I'm gonna give it a try now and see how it feels.
I'm not convinced I'll like it but will report back.

A linear throttle map is just like driving an old throttle cabled car. My FRS had a cable to the throttle body ( as do older cars) and that does not dull the driving experience. I would love a linear throttle map (next trip top Shark) as it means the input is more precise. In the wet I just spin the wheels when applying the power, as it either puts too much power down or not enough. Shark keep their throttle map very similar to the OE one and I think the OE throttle map should be on a 1:1 ratio. Its just that most drivers are lazy and dont want to move their foot more than a few cm's to drive, thats why VW dont have a 1:1 ratio. You can still get the initial surge of power with a linear map but you have to move your foot a few more cm's and its just the same.

On older cars you used to be able to get things called Sprint boosters which essentially changed the throttle map so that small throttle inputs from thed driver equated to larger throttle output. It didnt make it faster, just made it feel faster!!
The stock throttle map on my car is terrible for this. Around Mallory at 3/4 throttle on Gerrards corner(in the wet) the slightest movement was bringing on full throttle. Really off putting and makes it difficult to modulate the throttle.
The linear throttle map means it is so much easier to modulate and control the throttle, especially in the wet, when cornering hard. I have much less wheels spin as a result.
Plus it doesnt make it slower, you just have to use more of the peddle.

MPG gains from linear 1:1 throttle maps?? The 1.8T boys are seeing 34-38mpg from linear maps, and the 2.5T ST owners are reporting 50-55mile better per tank.
For control the linear map wins hands down, but the Placebo effect stock pedal map makes people smile...... and under steer,
