Gti in deep blue pearl ....
« on: June 15, 2009, 10:52:49 pm »
I'm presuming this is a special order car but do you think a GTi 57plate with 17k on the clock cloth inside with sunroof is worth 15995 ? i'm not sure if its over priced by around a grand as its a non franchised dealer but the colour is rare and i want a sunroof .... i've also found a red one with cloth but no sunroof but it does have the winter pack for a more reasonable 13300 its an 06 car but near on 3k cheaper ... that will allow me enough to buy a towbar and boat :P and some change for modifying it ... but i might be buying something just for the sake of it. ALthough I do want red white or blue sunroof and xenons + winter pack all of which are hard to find on the same car !

Hi Steve,
IIRC all the DBP GTI's were imports mate, a place in wigan called Ron Hodgson cars sold a couple a while back, usually highly specced and as you say the rarity factor of the colour makes them an attractive buy!
I'd just definately check the origin of the car and bid accordingly as if it is an import it could affect its resale value in the future, not a problem selling cheap if you buy cheap, but this one sounds a bit over book imo...

Its seems abit overpriced to me, especially when ED30's are cropping up at similar prices and sometimes cheaper.

I know you cant get it in DBP but im sure Black/Grey/White/Silver or Red will take your fancy?

P.S if it is an import the warranty will have run out or be near enough run out.

DBP was a special order color in this country, it just added a big cost and build time.

Sounds too expensive though, that ED30 money (not far off S3 money)

Thanks, the car is actually at Ron Hodsen SPorts cars !!! so i gues it'll be an import then. That makes it worth around £14-14500... I knew at 16k it getting close to ED30 money and that was my concern, if I could get a red one with cloth + winter and sunroof i'd be happy and that 3k would buy some very nice mods.

I'd keep on waiting, 6 months ago I could've got a red one with sunroof and xenons on a 55 for £9995.  I ended up buying a non sunroof one and I regret not waiting now!

It happened to me a few times, rather annoying but theres not much you can do.

If I was lucky, I would now have an A3 S Line Quattro in an exclusive colour and specced to the hills.  The car sold when I was 20 minutes away, and I'd been on the road for 2 hours!

that was luck but in a good way, if you had the A3 you would only be looking for the GTi now, i've never wanted to change a car as quickly as the A3 i have

Same thing i did lol
Bought a 06 manual GTI brand new and starting hankering after an A3, 8 months later i had an A3 2.0TDi S line which although a great car in every way was just missing something, call it the GTI 'magic' i suppose...
Ended up back in another GTI albeit an ED30 and couldnt be happier  :happy2:
