VW Racing exhaust

strapper:
Is there anyone here using the vwr exhaust? I have read that millteck makes them but just wondered what they are like? Are they really noisey? Been looking at there stage 1 power pack and it seems great value for money only trouble is that I live 345 miles away :sad1:

SteveP:
I don't believe anyone on here has one TBH.

....

VWR's demo GTI aka "The Red Temptress" has one. It's not especially noisy but due to their engine mounts etc the sound inside the car is somewhat different anyway from how it will be on a stock car.

Also, the Milltek seems to sound a little deeper on the K04 than the K03 turbo.

The problem is that sound is very subjective to the individual.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but give Matt Walker at VWR a call and he'll be able to tell you more.

Steve(P), you've driven The Red Temptress - Did you find her noisy? Anyone else who has driven her? Mat? jonnyc?

[Yes, they are made by Milltek]

I found the VWR exhaust quite noisy and boomy when I had the demo car for a week and I told Mark when I returned it.  To be honest, my Milltek has developed a drone on the motorway at 75mph that it didn't have before although that may be the engine mounts helping the noise filter in... although it does seem to have gotten louder, so much so that I was going to have it put on a ramp and inspected.  Its probably nothing though and I just need to change it for a res back box as I cannot bear to increase the weight with soundproofing material that I had penciled in for the car.

Yes I would say it is noisy and like Illyun experienced the same motorway drone as mine had on the non-res pipe, but agree the rest of the noise is more from the transfer effect from the engine mounts.

So for me it's great for the period's of time I have had driving the Tuning Golf but I know I couldn't live with it on a daily basis

Welcome to my (old) world Illyun, it's strange because like yours mine developed the drone worse as it got some more miles on it, and if like me your doing some high mileage it does become a little tiresome.

You almost need a part-res so you can combine the best parts of the res and non-res version
