Waxing the bonnet.......went wrong

Sounds like you've just put too much on. I do exactly the same everytime and on a black car it looks :sick:

ok, maybe it's a wax that you need to go back to after an hour or two and re-buff off. Some take that hour or two to go-off so to speak.

Which wax did you use? Some have much longer cure times and some can haze. I suspect washing the car, drying it and then buffing the wax with a QD may be sufficient. Alternatively you could add another layer since the solvents will help with the wax already there. Finally, as above, strip back and start again.
The wax needs to be very, very thin and left adequate time to cure.
