Re: APR Stage 2 and APR RSC Exhaust booked @ Awesome!
« Reply #30 on: August 16, 2009, 10:18:37 pm »

They've recently revised it again I am led to believe....I'm looking forward to their stage 2 mapping....I spoke to Awesome on Friday as Jim and Mark went to the US last week to arrange more technical input for the UK market especially on forums. I believe Keith from APR will be adding tech advice to the forums.

I found this new pump code super smooth...as did VWR.
I will try and get Jim to RR before and after if time allows.

Have ther revised all Ko4 maps or Just the ED30 as i have had the stage 2+ for the Cupra 12 months now

I'll find out...I'm not looking for peak figures but delivery....smoother the better.

Well I visited Awesome yesterday and duly had my APR TBE RSC exhaust fitted including Stage 2 mapping.

Just lovin the noise....amazingly it's quiet in the cabin which was always my concern....it's blimmin fantastic...sounds like a Ferrari 430 through the tunnel nearby...what a system and it's unleashed even more grunt with stage 2....seems like a stock delivery...smoother than stage 1!

Didn't bother to dyno it as I'm not particularly overly fussed over figures!!

Well worth it and it's made it into a car with two characters....quiet and refined when cruising and a beast with attitude when gunning it.....makes people look but nice and discreet when driving normally.

Unfortunately the other half wants to move house which means I will be selling the car at some stage. :sad1:

I may sell the car as it is so if anyone knows of someone who maybe interested let me know. I may put it back to OE and sell my APR pump, exhaust and Clubsports which I will advertise on here. What I will buy to replace it will be difficult but I will be forced back into my daily hack for a bit.

seems a shame to get your car this far and have to sell?
maybe just put it back to stock and keep it ?
[edit : I have just remembered you have Edition 30 : plaque number 30 : keep it  :notworthy:]

Id be interested in your pump and RSC exhaust should the worst happen and you have to sell

One question that you guys maybe able to help.

I currently am running a stock airbox with this set but do have a K&N filter in place. Am I losing out much on power/torque by not using an induction kit such as a Carbonni or similar? They seem quite expensive but I'mn wondering how restrictive the stock airbox is?

So far the car is performing great. The power and torque is smoother than stage 1 but I would like to see some RR results at some stage.

Having a Quaiffe will be the icing on the cake as would big brakes but it ain;t too bad as it is TBH.

it is restrictive and you could make good gains , but you dont 'need' it.
however youve come this far and your car is highly modified , so Id say why not , plus some extra noise is always nice ....

would need to be a replacement intake for the whole cover though , carbonio is not worth it for your car.
would need ITG/Forge twintake/Dhilbas etc type tube things  :happy2:

Cheers John....I have sent Keith @ APR to comment on this issue to guage their oppinion on the stock configuration.

Do you run one on your car?

Where's best to obtain one on the item's you've mentioned?

I dont run any kind of intake ...................yet

theres 3 new air intake kits in the pipeline, due for release very soon so you may want to wait a bit....

Forge twintake (still pending)

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6546.0

ITG intake (still pending)
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6961.0

VWR intake (still pending)
no details available , unless you call them

existing kits

Carbonio
Dhilbas
Powerflow
Evoms
Carbonspeed
(have I missed any?)

I would research existing kits VERY carefully (esp on golfmkv.com) , as some people have reported issues with these kits.
Noise , fitment , longevity , filter type (oiled etc) , cost , do they use original cover etc as aspects to consider.
Are you keeping the car or moving on in a year etc

hth
 :happy2:

[Note : as one opinion Teutonic_Tamer does not endorse fitment of ANY aftermarket intakes.
Paper filter OE only but the decision is up to you]
