Kufatec Fakra Adapter & GPS Compass Unit (RNS now installed)
Deako:
Hi all. My RNS510 landed today, and i plan to fit it as soon as possible. However, i might need to order some of these.

Can anyone confirm that this is the right part? Also, is there anywhere in the UK that these can be purchased instead of me waiting for European delivery?
Also, i have read of issues with the MFD2 compass unit interferring with the RNS510 bult in compass unit and that the MFD2 compass unit (fitted in the rear of the car) will need to be disabled. Anyone know this to be true?
Of course, i have also heard that this is only applicable on dealer fitted MFD2 sat nav, which i was told mine is. But i dont honestly know the order spec of my car.
Deako:
Sod paying Kufatec €40 to deliver one of those adapters. Its only £2.37 from VW.

However, my local VW parts desk are crap and will not order the part for me over the phone. I need to go in and order it. :fighting: I used to order crap loads of parts over the phone in the past with no issues. Dont know what their problem is, they wont even accept payment over the phone. (Solihull VW nor Birmingham VW will order over phone)
Deako:
Another question, can i shave the connectors down with a stanley blade and "make" them fit? Ghetto!!!! :driver:

I'm not sure you really need any adapters. I updated from the RCD 300 to the RNS510 and simply pulled of the plastic shroud/cover type bits from the aerial lead and then connected the metal parts straight to the back of the sat nav unit. But maybe the MFD2 leads are different. I've not had any problems though.
Deako:
Would be cool if this is possible. Suppose all will be revealed once i have gotten the old unit out.
Main issue afterwards is getting the old compass unit disabled then.
