Front brake options GTTDI

Hi guys,
I have used the search and have a rough idea but looking for more insight.
The main issue is i am currently running standard 17" on my GTTDI facelift. So not sure where that leaves me with brake upgrades.
I have run the 312mm setup on previous cars and found them to be brilliant so OEM is the way for me.
I need new discs and pads all around so now is the time to consider changing calipers etc. I understand the TT upgrade is common but dont know if it will fit under 17's. What about the r32s?
Alternatively... heres my thought process - keep the standard pistons and get Eliptically groved discs with DS2500 pads? I wonder if this setup would be better than a larger OEM with standard VW discs and pads.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I have got the r32 set up on my gttdi and can't fault it-if you up grade your brakes with better pads and discs will also be a improvement

I am currently running 312mm brakes (standard on the 170 GT TDi) but also upgraded my previous 140 GT TDI to the 170 brakes. The biggest single improvement I noticed was changing to HEL braided brake lines. Compared to my current (totally standard 312mm brakes) they were miles better. Braided hoses are about £30-40 per brake set up, i.e. £30/40 for front and same for the back.
Would be interested to know if you can run DS2500 with OEM discs.
p.s. 312mm brakes fit under 16" wheels (my winters are currently 16's. And R32 340mm brakes fit under 17" wheels - VW's OEM winter wheel for the R32 is 17".
Hope this helps a little :happy2:

Thanks that's really helpful. I ran the 312s under 16s myself. I think the r32s are bigger so thought I'd check. Interesting the brake lines made a big difference. I think I'll keep the standard rears and just upgrade the fronts unless I come across a complete kit.
I picked up my 312s cheap a few years back and they were outstanding as standard but the golfs heavier than an Ibiza.

Well just to update I got hold of some front and rear ed30 brakes for a good price. Should be a good upgrade, not sure whether to go all out on pads and discs or just go OEM.
