kmackgttdi:
Hi folks. Just putting the feelers out to see if anyone near Edinburgh would be willing to remove the cat for me? I don't really want to spend nearly £300 on a pipe.  I was going to knock the insides out but having a look it looks like there is a right bend before the cat, I don't have a welder or I'd do it myself.
If you are willing please give me a rough price and thanks in advance.

kmackgttdi:
No one?  :sad1:

dodds-gttdi:
The downpipe is quite a large part of the exhaust (roughly half) so yeah you're right. It's probably worth getting it de-catted rather than buying a full downpipe. Unless one comes up in the classifieds. Look at custom exhaust places around Edinburgh, Central belt. I got a backbox removed and a stainless pipe put in it's place (with twim GTI tips) for about £120 a couple of years ago. I used somewhere near Cambuslaing though.  :happy2:

kmackgttdi:
Lol, aye it is, dono if its an illusion but mine looks longer as I have no centre box? Having been a mechanic I'd have no trouble removing it, just can't weld lol.
Looks like I'm gona have to seek out somewer tho.
I think I no the place your on about. If it is he done a lot of the Hondas the lads had when I worked up there.

Andy:
hope you know thata cat on a diesel is now part of the mot--and will fail if removed
