« on: April 08, 2014, 11:46:58 pm »
GREY, 2006 Volkswagen Golf 2.0 GT TDI 5 door hatchback, 6 speed manual.just looking at cars, like a couple of tdi 140´s. One is an 06 plate, the other an 08...will the 06 have a dpf fitted and are they something to worry about (if i were to buy the 08 plate?)

Well DPF problems with the 2.0TDI PD engines are not uncommon.

I'm almost certain the 140's never had a DPF. Maybe the very late in the MK5 run but you should be fine with the years you have been looking at.

My o8 140 gt tdi sport has, I think it was an option, and as it was a company car I guess they felt green about having it. Road tax is only £135

As it was only a retrofit option there is a good chance alot of them didn't have them fitted.

thanx matto, good find that
so the dealer would have put this on after/before car was sold?
there are also 3 types of DPF?  good old vw  :rolleye: make it difficult or what. So I might have the wrong one if I do a lot of miles?

Currently...fingers crossed....no bad effects yet @ 110K miles, I do like to hold it on limiter for 30secs once a week to clear things out, not sure if it helps but I enjoy it

The link I posted was what is listed as a DPF retrofit kit which is listed for a few different engine codes including the BKD which yours is. It would have probably only been fitted if requested on the earlier one and then on the very late MK5 140's.
