AFAIK the RNS-510 stays in standby around 30 min. after you switch it off.

A remote would be safer to have, but for the time being at least be prepared if one day the battery is too weak.

Managed to get the drivers door panel to fit perfectly. Also changed the rubber part of the grab handle as it was scratched.

I'm thinking about replacing the ESK's with HSK's

Are the HSK's much better @jedi-knight83

I listened to the esk / hsk in the audio shop and the hsk had a much nicer richer sound than the esk. Also the woofers on the hsk will stand up to lower frequencies.

The hsk are very similar in spec to the audition voce (which are awesome speakers!)

@jedi-knight83 thank again for your help.

Will the JL Audio JX360/4 be able to power these?

Yes will be fine. I run them from a JL XD400/4 which is 75w x 4 at 4ohms. yours is 70x x 4 at 4ohms.

I've just finished installing HL70s and HT25s (mids and tweeters) in my van on the dash and the speaker location is MILES better than the golf. Need to re do the golf now so I can get the mids and tweeters next to each other and higher up. Might look at getting som A-pillars custom made.

The stock Mk5 speaker locations are awful!

Yeah those are the ones.

Why are you upgrading the rear out of interest?

Do you have VIP guests in the back who you want to give amazing sound to?

I've left my rears oem and just running off the headunit.

You don't want high frequency sound coming from behind you. Will completely ruin the sound stage.

Just amp the fronts and stick the hsk163 kit in and stick a sub in the boot. Best set up.

Then you can run your amp bridged to the fronts to give them about 140w per side.

I thought i may as well change them all. The kids are my VIP's.

Could just chuck the ESK's in the back and try them with and without the amp/bridging the fronts.

Yeah if you've got the esk now you may aswell but personally I wouldn't worry amping them. Then bridge amp the fronts or use those channels to power a sub.

Ok will see how it goes. May have to run a remote.
When I fitted my stereo (in the Golf), the RNS-510 stayed for 15mins.

Sounds like a plan i just feel a bit let down with the ESK's and would like all the speakers to match as i have OCD.
I have the JL audio JX500/1D for the sub.

I will be adding a remote as it's already putting a drain on the battery.

Made a bit more progress on the boot build today. Wish i had bought some smaller amps.

The hinge works needs some beefing up here and there. Need to decide how to get the sub box into the spare wheel well.

Is there going to be air flow to cool the amps?
