Map in the new year - what to do before?
« on: December 17, 2014, 09:00:46 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm looking to get my 07 GTI stage 1 mapped in the new year, either by my local Vag specialist or my nearest Revo dealer. At the moment the car is stock but before the map I am planning to do the following:

1. Subtle powerflow backbox
2. K&N or uprated panel filter
3. D+ Diverter valve
4. Minor service

Are there any other mods that would be worthwhile or should be done be done before the map?

Cheers!

Power flow back box will give you noise, not power.

As said above - PRE CAT DELETE!! http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=41083.0

Also get a Rev G DV (it holds boost better than a D)

Check PCV is good, and if you haven't replaced it - CAM FOLLOWER  :happy2:

Yeah just wanted a nice subtle back-box really, more for the aesthetics and slight sound. I'm still trying to keep the MPG fairly reasonable so I don't want to do anything too drastic to the exhaust system, but I have previously looked in to a pre cat delete.

Where's the best place to buy an upgraded DV, other than eBay?

as above,

remove pre cat
latest DV
maybe a HPFP rather than cat back, you will get better mid range with a HPFP. Cat back is more for sound.
Panel filter

Dont bother with a panel filter. Waste of money as the oe one flows more than air as mine ran fine with it at stage 2+.
Frozen White Ford Focus 1.6 Ecoboost Titanium.
Mods so far - Superchips Bluefin, High Flow Air Box
