golf edition 30 install a sub with a standard RNS310 unit
azzii1992:
Hello guys. First post here apologies if it's in the wrong place. I have fitted an RNS310 unit and want to fit a sub. The sub is fitted in a stealth box to the left in the boot. I have everything I need including a line out converter. I chose the vibe one as it has a built in remote cable so no need to find an ignition live feed. Now I've fitted all the wires on this loc to the rear of head unit so all the rear speakers left and right. Also have fitted the remote cable straight back to the amp and ground the earth to a screw on the rear chassis of the head unit. Now for the live 12v feed. What do I connect to I have tried scotch locking it to the positive fees on the back of the RNS310 but still no joy being able to power this amp. I have the power cable from battery with a 30amp fuse to the amp. Also ground the amp to a bolt under the front seat. Also have the speaker wire to the sub. Amy ideas where I am going wrong? Why I cannot get power to this amp? I even tried my mates amp and that does not power wither. Any help will be appreciated guys.

to power my amp I ran a cable from battery to boot.
Switched ignition live. easy. Turns on and off with ignition.
If it's not powering then obviously you have no power... so it's a wiring fault. Take power from battery but use the switched live to turn it on/off etc.
I'm sh*t with wiring, I get my mate jairm to do it for me. im fine with mechanical stuff but electricity is like women, cannot be comprehended.

Red thicker wire with inline fuse should go from battery to amp with the fuse closer to the battery end.
Black earth wire, make sure it's a good connection. A lot of the time you may need to remove paint from under the bolt your using for it to get a good earth
12v remote wire (normally blue) this switches your amp on. These normally receive power from the headunit but I don't think there is anywhere on the factory stereo. Best place I found to use last time was to run the wire to the 12v cigarette style boot socket and splice it in so when your ignition is on the amp will turn on.

Ah right so I'm assuming the wire I locked into on rear of the head unit obviously isn't the live feed. The remote cable is on the line out converter. So it finds power with the small red cable and small ground and the that's the remote so it picks up when the speakers turn off. It's a new line out converter. Got all serrated wires for the amp see.
