I've decided that its better late than never. :innocent:
I've got quite a few plans for the car, but here is how it stands now.
Ill will get round to writing a mod list too :happy2:

-
OMG.... I NEeeeed one of those lights
You mean TWO of em
They were for sale on ebay in the UK for £50 when I bought em over a year ago. I bought mine on ebay, but from China.
Cost £14 delivered
-
Any pics of the install? I might have to get some. :-)
-
Very nice Carlo. :happy2:

Looking really really well Carlo :notworthy: The first picture is a Calendar shot!

Those puddle lights are the absolute nuts, i've never seen anything like that before. Really cool. Good work fella
-
Any pics of the install? I might have to get some. :-)
The install is SO easy. :happy2:
You need to buy 2 repair wires from TPS. £3 each max (cant really remember)
(You need 4 wires in total (2 for each light) BUT you only need to buy 2 repair wires as they come 600mm long and double ended, so just chop em in half)
Hardest part is taking the door panel, which gets real easy with practice.
With the panel off, you will see there is the perfect position and space for the lights.
The kit comes with the correct hole saw bit.
Drill the hole, pop the light in and secure with the nut provided.
There is a tutorial for fitting the oem door lights somewhere. Basically the repair wires plug straight into a large terminal block on the door. (For Example: positive pin 17, earth pin 18)
Sorry I didnt take any pics of the connector. Doh!
Just connect these to the lights, refit door panel, activate the oem door light with vcdd and done.

Looks awesome Carlo :notworthy:
Agree with Greeners though - preferred your previous rims :happy2:
I did really like the Ultra's but I LOVE the look of the BBS.
CH's or CK's, I feel I have got the Edition30 look back now. I had the 19" Monza's on for a while but I looked too GTI. (Not a bad thing, but I wanted the Ed30 back)
-
Fantastic looking car, all credit to you :happy2:

My favourite picture of this car so far :congrats:
Looking forward to seeing this at inters (you are going, arn't you?)
-
Looks fantastic monte, really like the ck's! What products do you use on the paint? It's got some shine off it which isn't easy with silver :)
-
Your car looks spot on ! :happy2:
-
*cough*... you missed my question on the r32 rear end ;)
-
Get your throttle sorted mate?
Been for a blast myself tonight....with my bro in his e30 m3 too.....let me know when you're next out!
-
*cough*... you missed my question on the r32 rear end ;)

Looking good... when did you do the r32 rear and how much do you think it cost in total? I wanted to do this originally
Also think i prefer it on the old wheels though.. sorry.
Sorry Dude :ashamed: Yeah I missed that completely mate. I can't take any credit for the rear bumper im afraid its used to be Al's. :happy2:
Not a very expensive job really. Especially if you keep it UK spec plate. Just need a full standard GTI Rear, and an R32 Valance. Oh and someone that can plastic weld.
GTI Rear Bumper US Spec with short plate recess.
R32 Rear Valance cut out and grafted in to the Standard GTI Lower.
Exhaust wise, all I needed was the R32 tails. I had the BCS TBE already with the GTI Tails. Just needed swapping
-
Looking forward to seeing this at inters (you are going, arn't you?)
Sorry mate no. :sad1:
Im gutted to miss it this time. Especially with the venue change. Im going to Italy on the 6th July. I really wanted to go on the 9th-30th but it would cost another £200 in flights for those dates.
-
Get your throttle sorted mate?
Been for a blast myself tonight....with my bro in his e30 m3 too.....let me know when you're next out!
Yes Mate Alex sorted me out :happy2:

-

-
One of my favourite Mk5's for sure. That's not just cause Carlo's a super top bloke. Always pristine, all the right mods. Great attention to detail in the flesh.
Such a shame you couldn't have the OZs and the BBS :sad1:

Love the R32 rear exhausts, is it a case of swapping the rear bumper and thn getting a new R32 back box?
I had the BCS turbo-back-exhaust with the ed30 rear bumper, so when I changed bumpers all I needed was the BCS R32 tail ends :happy2:

Yeah, I think Pirelli will be replaced by Bridgestone next year. Although that curb on turn 4 was pretty vicious :scared:

Best to pm Eddie.
Depending on what setup you have now will determine what Mk6 Climate you need etc.
IIRC the panel was £120ish
Custom Harness from Eddie £25 (really not sure) :ashamed:
Mk6 climate Fascia for Mk5 Dash £35??? (From dealer - again not sure about price)
Prices above are for New parts :happy2:

I'll have mine for a long time, get some return on the price and run it to big miles.

Very nice car! :happy2:
-
New brakes to be fitted soon at AKS
Hopefully no spacers needed with my CK's but I know ill need em with my O.Z track wheels.

:notworthy: :notworthy:very very nice Carlos..been looking at these brakes for mine but wasn;t sure about them fitting behind the ck,s
Also been thinking about getting a price on getting my car wrapped like yours but was wondering if you just wash them normal or is there a special way in doing it
-
Hi Andy,
Cheers mate, I'll let you know how they fit behind the CKs :happy2:
As for the wrap, pm me if you want it doing around springtime next year
Just wash as normal, and use common sense. As long as you are aware that it's a wrap and not paint its easy to wash.
Jet wash, 2bucket method, sno-foam are all fine but for obvious reasons don't use a machine polisher on Satin/Matt finishes
(You can polish gloss vinyl with the right pads/compounds)
I will get round to posting up some pics of when I wrapped mine.
-
Ttrs discs carlo???
-
Yes mate :happy2:
-
The brakes are lovely
-
Yes mate :happy2:
You are gonna need a spacer pal
-
For the CKs Gaz?
If so what size? :popcornsoda:
-
Monte, so nice to see another siver Eddy. I like yours so much I may "borrow" some of your styling ideas.
I've often thought that the silver didnt look as good as the other colours, but you have changed my mind. Well done sir. :congrats:
-
For the CKs Gaz?
If so what size? :popcornsoda:
Yes the CK's mate, Well we get away with it on mine because I run daveb disks and brackets which move everything 12mm inboard, I get about 6mm clearance, so by my reckoning a 10mm spacer would give you 4mm. We have tried the CK's on another lads S3 with the ttrs discs and they wouldn't fit. Have a look on vagoc mate there is quite a lengthy thread on there about what fits and what doesn't

Your new brakes get me a little too exited
I didn't want to do too much to my Ed30 but yours gives me bad ideas......
-
Well today I sprayed my Track wheels. (Well I made a start) :innocent:
I decided to give Plastidip a try after I'd used it on various badges. The process is very very easy. A good clean and a wipe down with IPA is all the prep needed before spraying. No sanding needed. :notworthy:
I'll be finishing the rest tomorrow and then on Wednesday I hope to get them on the car for some photos
I'm really impressed with the results so far.
Before:

-
That's looks pretty good. How does this plasty dip stand up to road miles?
-
Time will tell Mat :happy2:
The wheel are cleaned well and thoroughly wiped with IPA which is all you can do really, if you ever want to peel it off in the future to go back to the original colour.
I suppose if you were using old wheels that you could key properly with wet and dry before spraying, the stuff would last forever
I will keep everyone informed on how they cope after use on the road and track.
-
Those Brakes :happy2:

Tried the track wheels on :jumpmove:

The Audi RS Calipers do you need to get a special Bracket made up in order for these to fit on the GTI?

Loving the vinyl effect!

Number 1 for me. What a great rear end.
-
Yup, very nice rear end but I don't really like that photo because the sun is in front...
I think you have many pictures that could go in the calendar (No 3,4,5 etc).
Very, very nice! :congrats:
-
Random question where did you get your rear plate made ?
Tidy but btw :happy2:
Darren

Cheers guys :happy2:

Yes mate they are the Climair deflectors :happy2:

Wow what a thread. That first picture is just amazing. Been looking at it for like 5 mins
What a stunning car!

Very nice indeed. :happy2:

Decided it was time to make the change from my old Conti's and try the New Michelin SuperSports
So the wheels were stripped of their old wheel weights well cleaned using various brushes/iron-X/tardis etc before visiting the tyre shop.
Then with the Michelins on it was time for a bit of pampering.
Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour was the order of the day. A nano sealant that bonds to the paint to give up to 2yrs protection
Here are a few shots of the work....
First off I started with a good hand polish using the Gtechniq P1 polish.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftt210%2Fmonte0797%2FE66AF17C-6C12-447D-9445-8EF1510D6203.jpg&hash=eba524dfad71ce15ad0b3599cce58ecebe120966)

Then my OCD started to show as I decided to paint the wheel weights in BBS paint :innocent:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Ftt210%2Fmonte0797%2FADDFAF81-2000-4646-8A7A-B717767EA1D9.jpg&hash=4354cdc10e717d7ade06adec02f0c14ac13fdb8b)

So after the paint had dried and the wheels well polished it was time for the C5.

Well last week I met up with Matt the LED man :jumpmove:
By now he has supplied lots and lots of you guys with the full LED interior bulbs kits after I posted this thread quite a while ago....
http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,51319.0.html
This time he gave me a RED interior LED set to try out as well as some AMAZING Ultra white Sidelight LEDs :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:
The RED interior bulbs might sound a bit marmite but TBH the ambient glow is pretty awesome. (you aint gonna do much map reading if they are all red so I decided to leave my vanity mirror/sun visor bulbs as white leds)
Here are a few pics of the RED bulbs but I will make another thread and add better pics if the admin dont mind? :innocent:
Ill try and get a full BLUE set too :happy2:

Here are the Sidelight LEDs. These are ULTRA bright. 8)
They are by far the best LED bulbs that fit our sidelights ive ever seen. Only thing is when you turn on the ignition on my car it shows a fault on the highline display. However, if you turn the lights OFF and then back ON the fault clears??? This will stayed cleared until you turn off the ignition. Then you will have to repeat the procedure.
I am used to it now, but Matt assures me these bulbs work on many many VAG cars without any faults.
Anyway here are the pics of the sidelights.

Thanks for the comments
The tyres are Dunlop Direzza 03G and they are basically Superglue. Definitely 10/10 from me.
(Mind you the SuperSports are pretty much track tyres when it's 35°C outside)

Another close up. (Sorry about the dust) :innocent:
Hey Carlos, thanks for pointing to this in my thread. I'm a little confused as to how you separated the DSG knob and gaiter from the actual surround?
Could you give me any pointers as I'm hoping to tackle it in the coming week.
Thanks,
Faz
-
Hi Faz, it's really easy mate, but you have to go gentle when raising the leather gaitor.
Just get your fingers in at the edge of the leather where it meets the ali bezel.
Then grab and pull the edge of the gaitor inwards towards the gearstick.
Gently do this all round the gaitor until it is released and free from the surround.
Lift the gaitor above the gear knob turning the leather inside out.
You do Not need to remove the gear knob or gaitor.
Then you can gently lift/prise up the whole gear stick surround and remove from the car.
REMEMBER to disconnect the wire to the bulb on the gear selector bezel.
You will see it easily enough, just don't go yanking the surround straight up without disconnecting it
Then separating the various parts from the surround is very straight forward. :happy2:
If you need any help just give me a shout

I've just come across this thread and been through it all, nice read, a well kept Eddy. That wrap is awesome mate! What kind of price are you looking for a good wrap as I have no idea? I've heard about issues when removing wraps but I don’t know if this is when people have applied the wrap themselves.
-
I'm not into wraps.
However when you see this car you will be.
I've seen loads of Mk5's now and this is a ridiculously clean car.
Still the best one I have seen.
-
It looks so bloody handsome on track Carlo :drinking: :driver:
A natural & timeless MK5 object, this one!

Hi Mate, we charge £1600 for Golf size cars fully stripped wrapped. We only use Premium Auto vinyls in most colours from 3M, Hexix, Arlon and AveryDenison :happy2:
People can have problems when removing vinyl IF the paint underneath is not original or substandard quality.
Also there is quite a lot of prep work to do before you can just wrap a panel.
Specific (expensive) prep sprays are sold by each vinyl company. IF there was ever a warranty claim for a vinyl that has failed in anyway, the company will test a piece of the vinyl to see if their cleaners/prep sprays have been used.
If they haven't they will not honour the warranty.
..otherwise there are no problems at all de-wrapping
Here are a few links to some old wraps we did, that I posted on the forum years ago....
