Title: r32 front brakes
Post by: Stooey on April 22, 2015, 06:32:29 pm
I'm getting my r32 front calipers fitted on the 6th and want to get braided hoses for them, I have been looking on the internet and have been in contact with one company who say the r32 hoses are 475mm long ant the gti ones are 585mm, so are unsure which I need, can anybody shed some light on this? Also they said that they only do the gti rears over the rear beam and not to the caliper as the cant replicate the standard ones, is tho correct or are they just talking crap?

Cheers in advance :drinking:

Have a word with @vRSAlex (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1981) (Alex @ AKS Tuning). He does some HEL braided specifically for the R32 setup. He has recently fitted my set and its made a nice improvement.  :happy2:

You get different variants of hoses. One set is longer as they eliminate the rigid pipe behind the caliper. The other set mates onto the rigid pipe and is thus a bit shorter.
R32 hoses are longer than GTI ones, but I can't remember numbers

The set I have had the part number VAG10. Think they are specials. They are single piece with a 45 degree banjo fitting on the caliper end which then connect to the solid pipes on the inner wing.

I think this is what I got from DaveB on my old car, took off the extra joint of the rigid pipe.

If your caliper has the rigid pipe on the rear, then standard r32 hoses are fine

This is my r32 calipers, does this mean that r32 braided hoses will fit these to my gti no problem?

Yes just standard length R32 hoses will do. Same fittings you have now on the rubber hose but a little longer in length

Quick question... I got some braided front hoses from Alex and one end of the hose has a banjo bolt, the hose that is on the caliper at the moment doesn't, is this an improved hose or the wrong hose? Am I right in thinking the banjo bolt goes on the caliper end and replaces the hard pipe that is currently on it?

Cheers
