Rear caliper - Snapped hard pipe
« on: October 26, 2019, 05:46:37 pm »
Hi Guys,

A quick one as need to sort asap,

changing my rear caliper, undoing the near side (rear left) hard pipe to the flexi and it has snapped in two,

I need a replacement asap, any thoughts on who will stock one on Sunday? I am based J28 of the M1, euro car parts looks like it only has the flexibles

Will consider a 2nd hand one if someone has one readily to hand

Thanks

Yeah that's quite common.  Had to replace that on mine as well.  I bought a new pipe from VW, but as above, if they won't do it for you, you can buy a brake flaring tool, a length of pipe and some fittings from the motor factors and sort it tomorrow.

Ok Thanks guys, good suggestions I'll give that a try tomorrow morning.

Are the threads universal fit do you know? or is each end thread specific?

Right after an amount of faff, we tried to make a pipe at a local shop on sunday and they ended up just destroying what was left at the fittings so called it a day and ordered a replacement next day delivered.

I fitted the part today, however the flexible is sitting at quite a significant angle, and is so much so I cant get the locking clip in, essential I think the hard pipe is a smidge misshapen forcing the flexi slightly out of alignment

what do you think? I cant see a huge issue not having the clip there

Loosen the metal pipe but not out of the threads and put the clip on
